How to compress images in bulk

Good to know
- Photos (JPG, WebP) are re-saved at a carefully chosen quality. Most become 50–80% smaller with no visible difference.
- PNG graphics and screenshots are reduced to a smart colour palette, which often makes them 60–80% smaller while keeping transparency.
- Never bigger: if an image is already as small as it can be, the original is kept.
- Phone cameras save huge photos. Choosing a largest size like 2560 px makes them far smaller while still looking sharp on any screen.
- Hidden photo details (EXIF, such as GPS location) are removed, and sideways phone photos are turned the right way up.
