Free Bulk PDF to PDF/A Converter
Turn lots of PDFs into PDF/A, the archive format required by many courts, governments and records offices. Fonts are built in and colours are fixed, so the files look the same in decades.
Quick human check, then the tool unlocks:

Up to 100 MB per file. Other files in a folder are skipped.
How to convert PDFs to PDF/A in bulk
- Drop in your PDFs, or press Choose a folder.
- Choose the PDF/A version. If you weren't told which one, PDF/A-2b is the usual choice.
- Press Convert to PDF/A, then download each PDF or everything as one ZIP that keeps your folder layout.
🔒 PDFs are converted on our server, two at a time, over an encrypted connection. Each file is deleted as soon as it has been converted. Nothing is kept or looked at.
Good to know
- PDF/A files embed every font, use a fixed sRGB colour profile and carry an archive label that readers recognise.
- Things PDF/A forbids, such as JavaScript, embedded videos and encryption, are removed or the file is refused.
- The conversion uses Ghostscript's PDF/A mode. If your archive runs a strict validator (such as veraPDF), test a few files with it first.
- Password-protected or restricted PDFs must be unlocked first with the PDF Unlocker.
